The International Organisation for Migrants (IOM) and HIRDA will organise an information session for Somali migrants within Europe, who are interested to return to Somalia temporarily to contribute to the development. The IOM programme matches a migrant with specific skills and knowledge to a local organisation that requires capacity building in a similar specific field. The IOM programme provides logistic and financial support to those who will be temporarily assigned. During this information session the possibilities and the criteria will be explained. HIRDA will also explain how migrants can support capacity building among its partners and local offices in the different fields like education, gender and health.
The objective is to contribute to the development of the countries in the Horn of Africa by facilitating the temporary return of higher skilled professionals from the Diaspora. The Diaspora experts will share their skills and experience with institutions and organisations in the target countries based on their needs.
The average duration of the temporary return assignments are three months, but can be a longer period.
