The winners of AFT 2015: Manchester
The 11th edition of Amsterdam Futsal Tournament was concluded with a grand final match between Manchester (UK) and Denhaag (NL), where Manchester team won the tournament with 4-3 victory over Denhaag. HIRDA Amsterdam Futsal (AFT) is held annually in Amsterdam and this year HIRDA reached a milestone as it has been a decade since HIRDA started organising this sporting event. This year a total of 237 teams have registered for AFT, 24 teams have participated, eight teams from abroad and sixteen local Dutch teams.
Among the many honorable invited guest this year were, former Prime Minister of Somali federal government Abdiwali Sheikh Ahmed , Ambassador of Somali federal government in Belgium and the EU Ali Said Fiqi, former Mayor of Mogadishu, Mohamud Ahmed Nur “Tarzan”, community leader and host of Fagaaraha forum, Sadiq Warfa, A veteran journalist who worked for the BBC and other known Somali media outlets, Abdisalam Hereri and many more. Besides the special guests, there were a large number of spectators who came to see the games and enjoy the ambiance.
All teams played in four groups of six with the top three qualifying to the second stage. As the competition escalated into a higher level, only four teams qualified to the finals, Manchester (UK), Amsterdam (NL), Rotterdam (NL), Denhaag (NL). Denhaag and Amsterdam played a well-balanced game where Denhaag took the lead and won the game eventually. In the second semifinal, Manchester has shown superb ability and won.
The tournament was concluded in a ceremony held in Caland Soprthallen, where trophies and awards were given to the winning teams. The night was brought to life with music played by; legendary Somalia singer Abdibadil Ibrahim. HIRDA AFT 2015 ended in success, we look forward to many prosperous years to come.
