Somalia has made history! For the first time athletes from Somalia ended up in the finals of the Continental African Taekwondo Championships 2014 in Tunis and clinched a bronze medal.

Improved education in 26 schools in Dolow

Community Education Committees (CEC) are typically the first manifestations of civil society in post-conflict areas. CECs monitor and supervise the way teachers conduct classroom activities in order to improve the quality of education. Therefore, HIRDA has provided on-job training to 182 CEC-members from 26 schools in Dolow.

Fight against FGM on tour

More than 400 beneficiaries have been reached in Somalia with four monthly meetings on the negative medical consequences of female genital mutilation. The meetings took place from November 2013 until February 2014 and have been realised by the local Somali NGO Action for Gender and Development.

Fifty women empowered with computer skills

Fifty Somali women are now equipped with skills and competences to work with computers on their own. After a training of seven days the women learned how to use Word, Excel, Power Point, Windows XP and Windows8.
